We would like to inform you that regarding withholding of your wife's passport to prevent her from traveling, this act is illegal. The UAE Ministry of Interior issued a decree confirming that the passport is a personal document that the owner must keep and submit it to the official government authorities upon request. and no party may withhold a passport except by judicial order and in accordance with the law. Withholding of a passport is punishable by a fine of up to 20,000 AED.
