We would like to inform you that expat of any nationality may marry in UAE, regardless of their religion, nationality or origin, through the completion of the marriage ceremony according to their religious beliefs, where Muslim expatriates may perform the marriage ceremony in the Courts Department, or through the request of the authorized person to their homes. The marriage application is submitted with all the necessary documents to the Courts Department and the marriage becomes official   in the presence of two witnesses. The marriage certificate is issued within a few days of the date of the contract. Non-Muslims may be married in the church (if they are Christians) or in their embassy or their consulate in the UAE or their place of residence.

If a Christian marriage is completed in the church in Ras AlKhaimah, a marriage certificate must be obtained from the Courts Department. It is also recommended that the marriage be registered at the respective consulates. Regardless of where the marriage ceremony takes place, whether in court, church or otherwise, married couples must register the marriage in the court and embassy of their countries.

Documents required for marriage:

-          Birth certificates

-          Original passports and pictures of residence visas

-          Certificate status proof , whether the bridegroom or the bride is single or widowed or certified, whether outside the UAE (by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant and the UAE Consulate in that country) or in the UAE (by the Consulate of the applicant and the UAE Foreign Ministry)

-          Certificate of healthy fitness for marriage

Terms & Conditions:

-          One of the parties wishing to marry must have a valid residence visa.

-          The other party must undergo a medical examination before their marriage.

-          The Bride’s guardian's approval for the marriage. In case of the father's absence, the closest next-of-kin male can be the guardian, and in certain exceptional cases, the cleric sheikh himself may assume the guardian's role.

-          The bride and groom must be residents in the UAE.

-          Marriage formalities and requirements might vary from one situation to another; so the couples are advised to consult their countries' missions in the UAE to get additional details about all the necessary requirements.
