Requirements for obtaining a fishing license in the UAE:
The UAE has a wealth of fisheries that make it an important destination for fishing enthusiasts from all over the world. To preserve this unique wealth, the state has set many conditions and principles for fishing enthusiasts whether it is recreational, commercial or other fishing.
Weekly / Annually Recreational Fishing License: The license is available to citizens of the State or residents with a valid residence in accordance with the following conditions:
Not less than 18 years old
Committed to bring only allowed equipment (thread and hook)
No fishing near commercial fishing areas
Commercial Fishing License: The license is available to professional Emirati fishermen in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment in accordance with the following conditions:
The applicant is registered at the Ministry of Environment
He must have a fishing boat
Must be more than 18 years old and must adhere to the required equipment only
Trainee Fishing License: This license is reserved for UAE citizens who wish to learn fishing according to the required conditions:
Be one of the sons of the original citizens and not residents
To be between 12: 18 years old
He shall agree with the owner of the boat to use the boat during training
Obtain the consent of the guardian and the owner of the boat
Permit for gargour fishing: gargour is one of the means of fishing that are used to catch fish, especially bottom fish such as grouper, grouch and Zeridi which is a grid that have holes where the fish enter and can not get out. It is approved to obtain a permit for boats 40 feet or more, as well as for licensed fishing for commercial fishing only.
Permits for diving centers: Permits for diving are issued only to clubs and institutions that train young people in diving. The permit shall be extended for a period not exceeding one year in accordance with the diving instructions and laws and practice.
Barn Fishing Permit: The barn is one of the primary means of fishing and is used only in shallow beaches. The permit is issued to fishermen from the UAE.
Spinning Fishing Permit: This permit is granted to fishermen licensed for commercial fishing only, where they can fish spinning in the waters of Abu Dhabi, except in some places prohibited from approaching completely, in accordance with Federal Law No. 23 issued in 1999 to protect fisheries and the environment as approved by the concerned authorities.
