We would like to inform you that according to the UAE Labor Law, the worker shall be entitled to a sick leave not exceeding 90 days, successive or otherwise, in respect of each year of service, to be calculated as follows.
• The first 15 days: with full pay.
• The next 30 days: with half pay.
• Any subsequent periods “45 days”: without pay.
Also, according to article (82) of the UAE labor law no. 8 of the year 1980 if the employee falls sick for reasons other than labor injury he must report his illness within a period of two days at most and the employer must take necessary measures having him medically checked up to ascertain illness.
The employer is also entitled to request an official medical certificate to ensure that the employee's absence was justified, as well as to preserve the worker's right to his due wage during the period of his illness.
