Dear Customer,
Thanks for joining and trusting us, much appreciated!

We would like to inform you that if your inquiry relates to opening an NRI account for Indian nationals, the benefits you can get vary from bank to bank as follows:

Advantages of repatriation:

One of the most important features of NRI accounts is the repatriation benefits where both NRO and NRE savings accounts allow for smooth movement of funds because you can return both the asset and interest abroad and the funds in the NRE accounts are returned completely free of charge however, the funds in your NRO account are transferable only after payment of applicable taxes.

Minimum Balance Required: You do not need to maintain high balances in NRE and NRO accounts as many banks have dropped significantly minimum balance requirements at present. Most banks require only Rs 10,000 as a minimum balance.

Comfort Features:

Another advantage of NRE and NRO accounts is the convenience of opening an NRI account. Most banks allow you to open NRI accounts without visiting the branch in India All you have to do is fill out an online form, take a hard copy, attach a certified copy of the required documents and send them to the Bank of India. The HDFC Bank allows you to transfer your existing resident account to the NRO account by emailing the required documents to the branch via the registration email ID.

 Tax Benefits:

You will be able to know about interest tax in choosing the correct NRI Fixed Deposit while the benefits earned from the NRE Savings Account as well as the NRE Fixed Deposit are tax free in India and the savings in the NRO Savings Account and NRO Fixed Deposit is subject to TDS according to income tax regulations and you also have the option to transfer funds from your NRO Account to NRE Account after applicable taxes paid.

FCNR deposit:

In addition to NRE / NRO Savings Accounts and NRE / NRO Fixed Deposits you also have the option to book foreign currency deposits so if you want to save your earnings in foreign currency so you can book FCNR deposit and earn foreign currency interest earned from tax-free FCNR deposits in India
