We would like to inform you that the marriage of a foreign woman from a Kuwaiti citizen does not result in becoming Kuwaiti unless she declares to the Minister of the Interior her desire to obtain the citizenship taking into consideration that the marriage is continued for five years from the date of declaring her desire. The Minister of the Interior, before granting her the citizenship, may decide not to give her Kuwaiti citizenship by way of subordination to her husband. He also may exempt all or part of the mentioned period.
If the marriage ends before the completion of the period referred to in the preceding paragraph due to death or divorce, and the foreign woman has children from her husband and she maintained her residence in Kuwait until the end of this period, she may be granted Kuwaiti nationality by decree of the Minister.
