Hi there. I have been offered a 1 year contract in HK as a Contractor. My company is currently licensed in the United Arab Emirates. Do I need to have a visa to be legally working in HK for that year, and what kind of taxes would I be liable for? I don’t want to pay taxes in both UAE and HK
Lawyer's Assistant: Where are you located? It matters because laws vary by location
I am currently in Dubai, looking to move to HK during the contract period
Lawyer's Assistant: Has anything been filed or reported?
Not that I know of. The contract hasn’t started yet
Lawyer's Assistant: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?
No

Dear Customer,
Thanks for joining and trusting us, much appreciated! We welcome you to join us in the legal section
It should be noted that after reviewing your inquiry and legal scrutiny we would like to inform you that according to the law, if the contract is obtained in UAE for a company has a branch in Hong Kong and the employment contract is signed with the company and you want to move to work in the company which is based outside the country, yes, it is necessary to obtain a visa. Note that the one who bears all the costs of the visa is the employer.
Also, all taxes are to be decided on the work and it is due to the employment contract signed with them
If you have another question, feel free to ask us and we will answer with pleasure.
