what is GDM ?

GDM defined as glucose inolerance of first recognition of high blood sugar during pregnancy

diagnosis of GDM

At first prenatal visit, risk assessment should be done for pregnant
women with high risk of GDM like

• obesity
• history of GDM or glycosuria
• family history of daibetes
• these cases should undergo glucose testing

with one step approac or two step approach

diagnosis of GDM is done by

random blood sugar >200mgm
fasting blood sugar >126mgm\dl
or after OGTT test >140mgm\dl

Treatment

diet and restriction of carbohydrtaes is most significant step in management
and begninng for insulin therapy is for following indications
 fasting plasma glucose

≤105 mg/dl (5.8 mmol/l)

1h postprandial plasma glucose

≤155 mg/dl (8.6 mmol/l)

or

2h postprandial plasma glucose

≤130 mg/dl (7.2 mmol/l)

you should follow these advices and follow up with your doctor
because the GDM has  serious complications in your body and your fetus
