Regarding what you mentioned

, the presence of high fever and shivering may indicate that you could have a bacterial infection such as upper respiratory tract infection , so in this case the medications such as antibiotic are indicated.

Yes this may be due to viral infection such as influenza.

What could you do to control the fever ?

You can use a cold fomentations as a temporary measure to decrease  the high fever, but you have to use a medication such as paracetmol which is safe.

What should you do in this case ?

You have to visit your GP  doctor so that the doctor could do a full clinical evaluation o the case in order to determine the exact cause of this case,   then he will treat it accordingly.
