As its name suggests, this type of psoriasis treatment is done using ultraviolet (UV) light, both natural and artificial. The simplest and easiest way to treat light is to expose the skin to moderate natural sunlight. Other methods of light therapy include the use of industrial UVA or UVB as a single treatment or as a combination of psoriasis with drugs.

oral medications for psoriasis

In severe cases of psoriasis, or in cases where other types of treatments are not useful, your doctor may prescribe oral medications (oral) or injections:

• Retinoids (retinally shaped, semi-retinoid-retinoid: drugs derived from vitamin A)
• Cyclosporin
• Methotrexate
• Drugs that affect the functioning of the immune system (biological).
