What is CA15-3:

• it is a test used to detect the activity of breast cancer after treatment.
• the normal range of the test is below 30, so your test is normal
• it is not used for diagnosis because it can increase in many other diseases
• it increases in both benign and malignant breast tumors, liver cirrhosis, polycystic ovary etc
• other diagnostic modalities should be done to diagnose your condition of breast disease

Treatment of breast mass:

• depends on the type and risk degree of the mass
• surgical treatment is most known treatment
• radiotherapy and chemotherapy as adjuvant treatments

Diagnosis of breast mass:

• clinical history and examination
• sonography for the breast
• if the patient is above 40 years old then she needs to do a mamography
• taking a biopsy from the mass
• computed tomography of the body if needed

Causes of breast masses:

• physiological changes during menestruation can cause few benign lumps
• family history of breast mass
• obesity
• nulliparity
• genetic causes
