Treatment of absent menses

It is common complain to experience absent menses due to many factors and causes which result in absent of menses. Amenorrhea is defined as absent of menstrual cycle three concecutinve months if it was regular or for 6 months if it was irregular. Treatment of absent menses is by the following

• At first, we have to exclude pregnancy thus it is better to do pregnancy test.
• Seeking for medical help to be examined by your doctor with physical examination in addition to abdominal US for uterus.
• Additional tests may be done like prolactin level, thyroid level.
• If there is no cause, you can ask for drugs to treat absent menses like progesterone 5 mg once daily for five days then stop it.

• Pregnancy

• High prolactin level
• Thyroid problems
• Drugs side effects
• Uterine causes
