Hi my mother is 78 yrs old, she is already beridden for more than 5yrs due to her fracture on her right femur, it was healed by normal process and drs adviced not to touch anyway shes to old to under go surgery. She had her parkinsons at the age of 60 and having dementia as well. Shes having discharges everyday since 2wks ago, and drs advice is to do dilatation and curettage to clearly see more what causes the bleeding discharges?What will happen if we will just stay her away from procedures of surgeries?

Yes,she was seen by ob gene and asking our decisions to let her do curettage

Shes not taking any medications

What are the adverse effects of D&C?
Complications such as spread of infection, adverse reaction to general anesthesia required during surgery or from the same devices, are performed blindly (without any ultrasound or intrauterine imaging technique such as a hysterectomy).
One of the risks is the sharpening machine used in the incision that may cause the uterine hole. Although the hysterectomy usually does not require treatment, it may require a laparoscope to make sure the bleeding from the hole stops automatically. One risk is the spread of the uterus infection and the fallopian tube, especially in women with sexually transmitted diseases.
Why your mother need to do this procedure?
because she might have high risk of endometrial infection or even cancer!
So you need to do this peocedure as prophylactic measure. Add to this that you cant leave her with bleedig because she will have anemia
