Hello am Baldwin.I have chronic mucus secretion.Its not thick or colourful.But it comes out like saliva sometimes a little thick but not colourful.I am really concerned because i feel like it is stuck in my lungs and i need to clear my throat every 5minutes.Whst should i do
Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
I have not seen a doctor yet.I am still thinking if i should
Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
I had bronchitis before and pneumonia but i was okay until 6months back

Causes of chronic productive cough:
There are many possible causes of this complain as:- Foreign body aspiratioon
- Gastroesophageal refulx disease
- chronic infection
- chronic bronchitis
- Asthma
- post nasal drip
- cystic fibrosis
- Sarcoidosis
- Bronchiectasis
- Tumors!
Symptoms may be assciated with your complain:
- Fever
- Dyspnea
- Gastric upset
- Heart burn
- Weight loss
Diagnosis of the cause of chronic productive cough:
You have to visit your doctor for clinical examination and investigations as:- CBC
- Chest x-ray
- Chest CT scan
- Respiratory function tests
- Sputum culture...etc
Treatment of chronic productive cough:
It depends on the cause, as every cause has its own specific managemen.You can use the following treatment till the right diagnosis:
- Tussibal syrup
- Levofloxacin 750 mg once daily
- Omeprazole 40 mg once daily before breakfast
