Welcome! How can I help with your medical question? I have been switching duty 3 days night 3 day dayshift though now am on a continous dayshift.would that have affected my periods because its 2 months with late periods and now more than 2 weeks continous spotting but no periods..no pain or smell just normal spotting Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking? I havent.since am in qatar also thought might be weather change.but went to pharmacy last month as my flow was heavy and lasted long and ws given dicynone pills to stop the flow wch jad lasted 10 days Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know? My weight is 76.am not under any medication and not taking any birth control pills.we have a history of diabetes and blood pressure in my family though

Regarding your question,

Treatment of absent menses


The normal menses is about every 28 days with about 3 - 7 days of vaginal bloody spotting. There are differences between female and another one due to many physiological factors. As i said due to physiological factors absent menses is defined if you have no menses for three months and not for just one month. Treatment of absent menses is by the following
  • At first, you have to do pregnancy test to exclude or confirm pregnancy as the commonest cause of absent menses is pregnancy.
  • There are mild vaginal spotting at your case thus you have to do uterine US also to determine uterine causes.
  • You can ask for drug to get your menses as what you took before.

Causes of absent menses


There are many causes like the following
  • Pregnancy
  • Stress and depression
  • Uterine inflammation
  • Thyroid and prolactin hormones problems
  • Uterine causes like fibroids and others
  • Other causes

Is working at different time affect period


Actually, as you see for example stress and sleep disturbance cause menses problems thus working at different times and day and night works also affect period as this cause sleep disturbances , mood and hormonal release differences thus you will experience menses problems or absence.
