Treatment of cough in baby

Cough is common complain that affect high percentage of babies due to many factors related to infection as the commonest cause. Treatment of cough at baby is by the following

• The commonest cause is viral infection which does not need specific treatment thus do not worry and you will notice subsequent improvement with time.
• You can give your baby nasal spray or normal saline nasal drops to overcome nasal congestion to let him breath normally
• About anti cough syrup , you can give him 2cc of chloramphenicol once daily.
• Give him some hot drinks also.

Symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection at baby

There are many symptoms like the following

• Increased fever
• Poor feeding
• Cough dry or with sputum
• Nausea and vomiting

Causes of chough at baby

The commonest causes are the following

• Viral upper respiratory infection
• bacterial infection
• Lung inflammation
• Drugs side effects
