Hello , Before 2 days , I ran to the hospital to...
Hello ,
Before 2 days , I ran to the hospital to see a doctor as I have non stopping diarrhea for almost 2 days .The doctor has inspected me and explained that I have infection .
He prescribed me Ciprobay 500 antibiotic tablets , 400 Falgyl tables and Advil tablets .
Cipro and flagyl to be taken twice daily . Advil to be taken 2 tablets every 12 hours .
After completing the first day on the medication , I noticed that diarrhea didn’t stop but I was astonished to see Black colour in my stool .
I am interested to know if the Black colour implies a serious condition or just due to medication .

What does black colour in stool mean?
Dark or black stool may be due to:
- An infection
- Peptic ulcer
- side effect of some medications as advil that may cause gastritis
- Iron supplementation
Treatment of gastroentestinal infection:
It depends on the type of infection and may involve:
- Antibiotic for bacterial infection
- Anti amebic treatmetn
- Conservative management for viral infection.
Symptoms of gastroenteritis:
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Blood in stool
- Mucus in stool
- Bad odour
- Loss of appetite
- Vomitting
What you should do?
You have to complete your treatment as described by your doctor, and if darks stool continue or become more severe tou have to stop advil and visit your doctor again for clinical examination and reassurance.

I guess itvwon't last more than one week with treatment.

Thanks . This means diarrhea will stop and my stool will revert to normal healthy status after completing one week with treatment .Please confirm .
