what is MESACOL 500?

Mesacol containing mesalamine belongs to a type of medication called aminosalicylates. This kind of  medication works by reducing the amounts of certain natural substances that cause inflammation from being produced. This is used to treat inflammation done in ulcerative colitis so it is part of treatment of Inflammatory bowel syndrome.  To avoid stomach upset you should take the medication with full stomach or with food meal. Take it orally 3 to 4 times per day. In general this is a good medication used to treat IBD, however, you should take it after doctor prescribe it for you.
