what is the treatment of injection site infection or abcess?

Cold compressions are usually used to relieve the symptoms of injection pain. The pain is usually relieved after 24 hours, and if the pain is more than 36 hours. The pain is associated with a significant temperature or swelling in the injected area. he should be given an antibiotic like cefalexin 50mg/kg devided into 4 doses per day
and for the pain he shloud be given ibuprofen5mg/kg devided into 3 doses per day

what are the reasons of injection site swelling

It is normal that the injected area becomes painful for a period of 12 - 48 hours after receiving the injection and pain occurs at the site of the injection for the following reasons:

 
The irritation  of the muscle tissue: This depends on the type of injected substance (antibiotic, analgesics, other drugs) and the volume of injected liquid. Pain may also occur due to an allergic reaction to the substance used in the injection

injury of nerves or channels of lymph: The pain here is immediate and severe and felt by the patient immediately
. Pain is usually associated with swelling in the area, especially when the lymphatic system is injured. The optimal injection site to avoid this is in the upper lateral quadrant of the buttock

Infection: This occurs due to lack of sterilization required before giving the injection and thus infiltrate a number of microbes with injection into the muscle tissue causing inflammation occurs, which may cause swelling and redness in the injection area and may develop to cause an abscess.
