Dana Biosphere Reserve is The Jordan's largest nature reserve, located in south-central Jordan. Dana Biosphere Reserve was founded in 1989 in the area in and around the Dana village and Wadi Dana comprising 308 square kilometers (119 sq. mi)

The people of the Ata'ta (or Al Atata) tribe are the native inhabitants of Dana Biosphere Reserve. Their history in Dana dates 400 years, but their original settlement in the area dates more than 6000 years. Besides the presence of the Ata'ta people, archeological discoveries suggest Paleolithic, Egyptian, Nabataean, and Roman settlement in Dana.

I personally love Dana Reserve. It is a place where we find peace. It is on the way to Petra if you are using a rented car. You can spend the night and wake up the next morning either in the camp or in the hotels of the small town and just enjoy the scenery before you head further south for another hour and a half to reach Petra. Dana is different from other places in Jordan in that it spans between high mountains and the Araba Valley.
