What is the appropriate treatment ?
Penile discharge may be watery (clear) or cloudy (containing pus). The discharge may also be bloody. Urinary tract infection (UTI) or a sexually transmitted infection are common causes of penile discharge. Penile discharge is often accompanied by pain or burning during urination and a need to urinate frequently. Urinary tract infections can be treated by an antibiotic such as Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day for a week. It's also important to drink plenty of water if it is confirmed that there is no blockage in the urinary tract, and reduce the intake of salts. Furthermor, Uroclean can also be used. If there is gonorrhea, the treatment will be antibiotics such as Ceftriaxone 250mg IM single injection plus azithromycin 1g orally once.
Diagnosis:
History taking and physical examination to be done by the doctor. Complete blood count to detect the presence of infection. Urine analysis as well as take a sample from the discharge if present.
Symptoms of genital gonorrhea:
1. Abnormal urinary discharge with yellowish-green colour
2. Burning sensation during urination
3. Discharge from the rectum
4. Pelvic and testicular pain
Recommendation:
It's recommended to visit the genitourinary clinic for further assessment and management.
