Is HIV transmitted through oral sex?
The risk of HIV transmission through oral sex is very small, but it is possible, and there are several factors that increase the risk of transmission of the disease through oral sex, which include the presence of ulcers in the mouth, ulcers on the penis and bleeding in the gums. So it is preferable for men to use a condom, and not to ejaculate inside the mouth. Be reassured, as long as the condom was not torn apart during that.

How to diagnose HIV infection ?
There are different tests which are avaialble for the diagnosis of HIV such as Nucleic acid tests (NATs) to look for the viral load, Antigen/antibody tests which appear in the blood between the 2nd and 8th week of exposure, ELISA to look for HIV antibodies and if this test is positive, we do the Western blot test to confirm the diagnosis.

Treatment of HIV:
Two drugs from one class, plus a third drug from a second class, are typically used
NNRTIs such as abacavir
NRTIs such as tenofovir
PIs such as atazanavir

Symptoms of HIV:
1. Acute phase in which the pt develeop flu like symptoms amd my last for a few weeks
2. Chronic phase: Although, HIV is present in the body, many preople don't have symptoms during this ohase which might last for 10 years
3. AIDS in which the immune system is severely damaged and the patient becomes more likely to develop oppurtunistic infections and cancers
