If a year has passed since the end of the work, you cannot claim any rights arising from the work contract, and this matter is according to the provisions of Article 20 of the Domestic Workers Law in Qatar.
The same law also granted the worker the right to terminate the work contract while preserving his financial rights if the reason for terminating the work contract was due to the employer.
Here is the text of the Qatari Domestic Labor Law, related to your inquiry:
Article 15
The employer shall, in addition to any amounts due to the employee at the end of his service, pay an end-of-service gratuity to the employee who has spent a full year or more at work as of the date this law comes into effect, and this gratuity is determined by agreement between the two parties, provided that it is not less than three weeks’ wage For each year of service, the user is entitled to the reward for a fraction of the year in proportion to the period he spent in service.
The employer has the right to deduct from the remuneration the amounts that the employee owes to him.
Article 16
The employer may dismiss the employee without warning and without giving him an end-of-service gratuity for the year in which he was dismissed, if he breaches his obligations under the provisions of this law or the employment contract.
Article 17
The user may terminate the employment contract before its term expires while retaining his full right to end-of-service gratuity in any of the following cases:
1- If the employer breaches his obligations under the provisions of this law or the employment contract.
2- If the employer, or his representative, used fraud at the time of contracting with the employee in relation to the terms of use.
3- If the employer assaults him or a member of his family, in a way that harms his body or life.
4- If there is a grave danger threatening the safety or health of the employee, provided that the employer is aware of the existence of the danger and does not act to remove it.
Article 20
The claim for the rights arising from the provisions of this law or the employment contract shall lapse with the lapse of one year from the date of expiration of the contract, its termination for any reason, or leaving the work.
