Dear Doctor. I had NMOSD attack on March 2014 which left me almost paralyzed. With some physiotherapy I start walking, however my problem is that sigmoidoscopy showed very tight anal sphincter. I have difficulty passing stool. I pass stool every 4 to 3 days where I spend hours in the bathrooms even after passing some stool I have a sense of incomplete bowel movement. I also suffer from embarrassing flatulence which I think it is related to my sphincter problem. NMOSD is one of the demyelination disease similar to MS. Occasionally, the stool will build up and I will have a sudden urge to visit the toilet otherwise I will have no control. Due to the NMOSD attack I had almost two years ago, I have no sensation or numbness if you will from my stomach to my toe. I really need someone or a miracle to help me. I have a miserable life now. I cannot even hang out with people I love most even my kids. due to this embarressing situation. I cannot eat at restaurants outside home etc. is there a solution for this problem. is it worth it go for an anorectal doctor. I heard about robotic surgeries done in the USA now. is it going to help me. what can doctors offer me. Baclofen did not work for me. I had several kenalog injections in the sphincter muscle which relieved some of the pain sensation in the perineum but did not help with passing stool, and involuntarily passing embarrassing winds! I understand that my problem is neurological but my case needs a team of doctors each with his/her specialty. I have also and overactive bladder treated with botox injections. I have happy with my bladder now. but unhappy about being flatulent, and able to have a complete bowel movement. Help Help Help please
