First of all, it becomes clear from your inquiry that your work contract is fixed period, and if the work contract is end there is no need to resign, because once the contract ends, the labor relationship ends, and the law gave you 90 days after the expiry of the residence permit to correct your situations, and during this period you can leave the country to avoid imposing any fines or find a new employer, as Article 19/1 of the Qatari Foreigners Residence Law stipulates:
1. A foreigner, who has obtained permission to enter or to reside for a certain purpose, or to work with a certain party, shall not breach this purpose or join another work.
A foreigner shall leave the country immediately after the end of the purpose or work for which he has obtained permission to enter or reside, and he shall leave the country in case of cancellation of sponsorship for any reason whatsoever.
The Minister of Interior may approve the transfer of sponsorship of a foreigner to another work owner if he considers that the country's interest so requires.
