My 16 month old child has fever since last night...
My 16 month old child has fever since last night ...gave her adol syrup 5ml but it didnt go below 101 and later increased to 103 so gave her suppository adol and voltaren
Today early morning 7am gave her adol syrup but now at 11:24 am her fever is 102
She did 2 loose motions since morning and last night vomitted twice ...kindly advise

Treatment of fever in children:
Such complain may be due many different causes and treatment depends on the cause, and to relieve fever you can use cold compressors and medications as paracetamol suppository 250 mg as needed, and you may need antibiotic for bacterial infection as azithromycin syrup 3 ml once daily for 5 days, or flagyl syrup 3 ml 3 times daily for 5 days for gastroenteritis.
Diagnosis of the cause of fever in children:
It depends on the clinical examination by apediatric doctor and investigations as CBC to detect bacterial infection, chest x-ray for respiratory infection, stool analysis for gastoenteritis, urine analysis for UTI, PCR to rule out covid 19 infection
Causes of fever in children:
It may be due to many different causes as:
- Respiratory infection which associated with cough, sputum production
- Gastroenteritis which associated with diarrhea, abdominal pain
- UTI which associated with dysuria, change urine colour and amount
- Covid 19 infection which associated with dry cough, diarrhea, fever, loss of appetite
