Actually, acorrding to my medical opinion of this case, the chronic kidney failure is progressive in cats, but it can  often be treated with success, if your cat has been diagnosed with renal failure
IN this diagnosis , i advise you to make these testings for cat as soon as  possible such as the following CBC-BLOOD CHEMISTRY, URINE ANALSYIS-  BLOOD PRESSURE TESTING
After result if we see that, blood pressure is high, low level of potassium in blood, anemia-lower in blood cell count, increased levels of creatinine in blood, elevated blood urea nitrogen -BUN, dilute urine, in this result i can say there is renal failure or chronic failure disease in kidney as  renal impairment case
The treatment
Try to use supplemental fluid therapy such as DEXTROSE 5%  under skin slow ingection
use omega 3 fatty acids to protect the kidney
medication to lower blood pressure such as propranolol, atenolol
If there are anuria, try to use DEMAZONE-LASIX-FUROSEMIDE 2ML   ingection IM WHEN necessary
steril pure drinking water recommended  to protect the kideny
Drenched parsely is recomended also to protect kidney
AMOXICILLIN ANTI BIOTIC is recommended to treat the  renal  microbial infection
